Religion in the Created Isles
The following are a list of “Universal” (not tied to specific races) deities whose power is drawn or whose names are whispered over the Created Isles. While all of these deities can be said to have distinct faiths, the people of the Isles are a very Syncretic people, and most religious folk worship at least the Creator in addition to any other deity they venerate.
This should not be taken as an all-inclusive list, merely a sampling of various faiths which may be present in your journeys.
Deities of Law:
Abadar, “Master of the First Vault”, LN, is a God of cities, law, merchants, and wealth. Some merchant organizations in Westlanding or Windwater have the holy symbol of this god, a key with a lock in its handle, inscribed into their crests. He is also the patron deity for Oreads. Domains: Earth, Law, Nobility, Protection, Travel.
Favored Weapon: Net.
Erastil, “Old Deadeye”, LG, is a God of family, farming, hunting, archers, and trade. Worshiped primarily in rural areas where civilization stands against the elements, Erastil’s simple faith is a uniting factor for many small villages. The theology isn’t complicated, and the adherants are generally compassionate the world over. His symbol is a pair of antlers or horns linked by a golden arrow shaft.
Domains: Animal, Community, Good, Law, Plant.
Favored Weapon: Longbow.
Asmodeus, “Prince of Darkness”, LE, is a God of contracts, pride, slavery, and tyrrany. It is in Asmodeus’ name that Tieflings believe their existence began, although many have learned to follow different paths. Chief among the archdevils of the plane of Hell, Asmodeus’ worship is prohibited in many settlements, especially west of the Isle of True-Man. His symbol is the pentacle.
Domains: Evil, Fire, Law, Magic, Trickery.
Favored Weapon: Mace.
Magdh, “The Eternal Seer”, LN, is a Goddess of Fey origins. Depicted as a three-faced crone goddess, Magdh inspires her worshipers to sights beyond even ordinary divination. Her symbol is a three-trunked Oak, with a withering leftward trunk, a rightward trunk new and green, while the largest and healthiest pointing upward. She is associated with complexity, fate, and triplet births.
Domains: Knowledge, Law, Luck, Rune.
Favored Weapon: Scythe.
Deities of Neutrality:
Gozreh, “The Wind and the Waves”, N, is a God of Nature, the Sea, and Weather. Considered to be both male and female, Gozreh is most commonly worshiped by sailors such as Undines and Half-Gnomes. On the sea, it is Gozreh’s female aspect that is worshiped, but upon their return to land, the same sailors pray to a male avatar of their mysterious deity. Gozreh is also associted with primal wilderness. His symbol is a dew-soaked leaf.
Domains: Air, Animal, Plant, Water, Weather.
Favored Weapon: Trident.
Zysphus, “The Grim Harvestman”, NE, is a God of death unlike most others. The worship of Zysphus focuses on meaningless deaths, and how they detract from true purpose in life. His clerics cling to life beyond their deaths, and are more likely than any other to conjure undead. To this end, Zysphus’ cult is suppressed wherever strong feelings about necromancy are encountered. His symbol is a heavy pick made of mortal bones.

Favored Weapon: Heavy PIck.

Deities of Chaos and Change:
Groetus, “The Endbringer”, CN, is the God of the End of the World. Solitary madmen make up most of his worshipers, themselves convinced of the God’s looming intervention in the cosmos and his distaste for life as it exists. His symbol is a full moon on the forehead of a scull.
Domains: Chaos, Darkness, Madness, Destruction, Void.
Favored weapon: Heavy Flail.
Gyronna, “The Angry Hag”, CE, is a Goddess dedicated to assassination and violent change. Her cult is made up only of females, and their affections are best avoided by sane mortals. Famous for poisoning minds against eachother and rarely above direct assassination, Gyronna’s cult is banned in most civilized cities. Her symbol is a bloodshot eye.
Domains: Chaos, Destruction, Evil, Madness.
Favored Weapon: Dagger.
Desna, “Song of the Spheres”, CG, is a Goddess whose worship in the Isles predates Creation, although the old temples—little more than open-sky amphitheaters—attract a different sort of folk today. Associated with change and unusual phenomena in the sky, Desna’s worshipers tell all who will hear of the changing nature of the world in which Creation itself was a mere blip. Her symbol is a butterfuly patterned with the four moons or the stars.
Domains: Chaos, Good, Liberation, Luck, Travel.
Favored Weapon: Starknife.
